First part - Realization of the oily macerate of Urucum at 10% (~60 ml) Start by preparing phase A

1/ In a bowl, transfer the cottonseed oil and the urucum powder
2/ Heat in a bain-marie for about 15 minutes so that the color is released in the oil.
3/ Filter the colored oil to eliminate powder residues.
4/ Use this oily macerate of urucum to make the candle below.

Second part - Making the candle (~120 ml)

1/ Transfer phase B (stearic acid + oily macerate of urucum) to a bowl, then melt the whole thing in a bain-marie over low heat.
2/ Soak your previously cut cotton wick (to make 6 cm in length) in the melted preparation for 2 minutes.
3/ Take out the cotton wick and place it on aluminum foil.
4/ Shape the latter with your fingers so that it adheres as well as possible to the aluminum foil, always keeping a straight position.
5/ Leave your wick to cool in the upright position then put the aluminum foil with the wick in the freezer.
6/ During this time, add phase C (essential oil of patchouli and candy apple fragrance) to the still liquid mixture, then mix everything again to homogenize.
7/ Pour your candle into your mould.
8/ Leave the candle to harden at room temperature or in the refrigerator before unmolding it.
9/ Drill a central hole in your candle right through using a skewer for example.
10/ Take the wick out of the freezer, peel it off the aluminum foil. It must be very straight and very rigid.
11/ Place the wick in the hole of the metal base provided for this purpose then pinch the base of this base using pliers or a pair of scissors in order to hold the wick in the tip.
12/ Thread your cotton wick into the previously drilled hole in the candle.

Burn your scented candle for 2 hours, until the fragrance diffuses well and the entire upper surface liquefies.
Cut the wick before each use to avoid any soot emanation as well as a too high flame. If you relight it without cutting it, one side of the candle will burn faster than the other. It won’t look pretty and you’ll waste burning time.
